God's Love For Us

Old Letters With New Life

Preached by: Ryan Felabom | 03/29/24

Scripture/Text: 1 John 4:10; This Good Friday, Embassy Church Elder Ryan Felabom preached from 1 John 4:10, guiding us to ponder that God's love is unconditional, immutable, and sacrificial, as seen in its perfect display on the cross. The main takeaway is that we love because perfect love displayed itself on the cross.

This sermon highlights three ways we can see how this love displayed itself upon the cross. Firstly, love is initiated by God - our relationship with Him begins with His love, not ours, as He loved us first and from the beginning of time. Secondly, His love is actively revealed through propitiation, demonstrating the extraordinary lengths God went to restore us despite sin's distortion of His perfect creation. Reflecting on how our sin sent Jesus to the cross helps us grasp the depth of His love, leading us to selflessly love others without expecting anything in return. Finally, love is put into action as we respond to His love by forgiving, serving, and loving the unlovable; this all serves to make Christ's love visible in the world.
