He Came to Be Our Helper
He Came: Advent 2024
Scripture/Text: Hebrews 13:1-6; In this final message of our advent series, Pastor Phill preaches that contentment is a fruit, and the gospel is the root. In Hebrews 13:5-6, the writer calls us to be free from the love of money and to find contentment in God's promises. This contentment grows from the promises that God gives in the gospel, as we trust in God's provision and protection, not in material wealth. Therefore, God's promises from yesterday are fulfilled in Christ today, giving us confidence and contentment forever. Through the gospel, we are assured of God's presence and help, enabling us to confidently declare, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. This confidence leads to true contentment that comes from knowing God will never leave us or forsake us.
