How Well Do You Know The 10 Commandments?

God spoke them. They were not written on stone tablets until Exodus 34:28

QUESTION # 3: How many commandments are there?

These are the first 10 of 613.

QUESTION # 4: How many times are these 10 in the bible?

Twice (Exodus 20 & Deuteronomy 5)

9 of the 10 commandments are repeated in the New Testament.

QUESTION # 5: Who were they given to?

Primarily they were given to Israel. Secondarily they were give to the nations to see the wisdom and glory of God.

QUESTION # 6: If they were not given to us, then should we obey these commands?

Yes and no. It depends on why you are asking. Yes if all you mean is “”are these good laws from God to obey?”” No, if you mean “”are we under the Mosaic covenant and we should obey them as our laws?””

QUESTION # 7: What is the first thing God says in the 10 commandments?

Not a command

“”I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt.””

QUESTION # 8: Why were they given?

Not for salvation, God already loved them and saved them.

God’s laws are the path we take in life. The fuel to get there is knowing we are already united to God by faith.

QUESTION # 9: Are these laws unique?

Yes and no.

QUESTION # 10: Who can obey them?

No one!

Except for one who did obey them perfectly…Jesus Christ who came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law.
