Running Free in the Limits of God's Law

The Songs of Our Savior

Preached by: Phill Howell | 2/2/25

Scripture/Text: Psalm 119:25-32; This week, we continue our 8-week series through Psalm 119 by examining the Daleth stanza (verses 25-32). The theme of this sermon is true freedom. We begin by observing how the psalmist's cry, “My soul clings to the dust,” speaks to our human tendency to chase supreme independence and total self-reliance, only to find our freedom dissolving into despair. The main point of this message is that true freedom is not found in escaping God's limits but in discovering the grace of dependence upon God as we delight in the loving deliverance God provides through Jesus. The gospel is such good news that we are not only lifted from the dust of our sin and shame but also set free to walk, and even run, in the life-giving path of His commands.
