Seeing God's Love In Us

Old Letters With New Life

Preached by: Phill Howell | 03/17/24

Scripture/Text: 1 John 4:11-16; In this week's sermon, Pastor Phill delves into the profound truths found in 1 John 4:11-16, illuminating the transformative power of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. The central message emphasizes that the invisible spirit of God's Trinitarian love in heaven is made visible in humans on earth. Put differently, the subjective fruit of God's Spirit finds its objective roots in the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ on the cross. Through an in-depth examination of verses 11-13, we grasp how the trinitarian love of God, though intangible in its essence, takes on tangible form through the actions of believers. Then, in verses 14-16, we come to understand that the objective reality of this love is firmly anchored in Jesus Christ, who serves as the vine from which all genuine spiritual fruit emanates. This sermon guides us to a deeper comprehension of how God's love transforms and manifests in our lives, ultimately bringing glory to His name.
