Two Peoples, One Spirit
Acts: Our Church HIStory
Scripture/Text: Acts 10:44-11:18; In this week's sermon from Acts 10:44-11:18, we see the unmistakable work of God when the Holy Spirit falls on Gentile believers just as He did on Jewish believers at Pentecost. Peter and his Jewish companions are astonished, but they respond with obedience by baptizing these new believers and welcoming them into full fellowship. Then, Peter defends his actions to some skeptical Jews in Jerusalem, explaining that this was all God's doing, not man's. Based upon this scripture passage, this sermon calls us to recognize that Jesus truly is Lord of all, and if that's true, then we must listen to His Word, receive His Spirit, embrace all whom God has made clean, and glorify Him for the gift of salvation to all nations.
