What is the Way to Worship?
The big idea of this week's sermon from Hebrews 10:19-25 is that the goal of the gospel is God. As the author of Hebrews explains through the use of Psalm 110, this is made possible by the means of Jesus descent through suffering and death and his ascent to the right hand of the Father, where he even now mediates for his people as the greater high priest. We now have access to God's presence through Jesus' ascension so that we can worship by drawing near in faith, holding fast in hope, and stirring one another up in love.
Discussion Questions:
1) Why is the gospel more than just a way to God?
2) What is the significance of Psalm 110 in the book of Hebrews and why is this important?
3) What is one way that we can know we are drawing near to God in confidence?
4) Why might stirring up one another in love be uncomfortable at times?
